What is Alkaline Water?

The “Alkaline” in Alkaline Water refers to the pH level. The pH level is the number that measures if the water is acidic or alkaline from the scale of 0 to 14. For instance, water with a pH of 1 would be very acidic and 14 would be very alkaline. The diagram below shows you in more detail about the pH levels of different food items. Normal drinking ware has a neutral pH of 7, and Alkaline Water typically has a pH between 8-10 and is commonly also known as ionized water.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE ALKALINE WATER FOR THE HUMAN BODY?

An average human being is prone to consume food products that are acidic in nature. As you can see from the diagram above, you can determine what category of foods you consume. To counter this, we need to improve the quality of water, and the best way is to consume Alkaline water which has a higher pH level than plain water. The higher pH level in Alkaline water is known to neutralize the acid in our body. In school we were taught that our stomach generates acid to break down food and help the digestion process. The pH level of our body thus reaches as low as 3.5 and us consuming low pH food doesn’t aid our cause of reaching a neutral or alkaline state.

Maintaining an Alkaline state is thus crucial for our human body as it promotes proper distribution of nutrients and oxygen into cells, protects vital organs, controls body temperature and boosts immunity amongst other things.
